One-to-One Writing Coaching

Business man writing

I provide one-to-one writing tuition that helps people improve their writing skills and so achieve personal and professional goals.

By improving your writing skills you will be better able to:

  • Present a professional image.
  • Influence others effectively.
  • Represent your organisation successfully.

As you move higher up the career ladder, the ability to write clearly and effectively becomes an increasingly critical skill.  The way you write is as much part of your professional identity as is the way you dress and the way you present yourself.

If, like many, you worry that your writing skills let you down, I can help.

How my One-to-One English Coaching Works

I provide a free no-commitment assessment of your writing skills, and will give my honest opinion on whether I can help you.

If you decide to go ahead with coaching, then we’ll agree a programme together based on your specific needs and designed around the types of writing that you currently do or expect to be doing.  If you’ve got real pieces of writing to work on, we will use these as the basis for our sessions.  This way, you'll start to produce more effective pieces of writing right from the beginning.

I work with people within an hour’s drive of Macclesfield, which brings in South Manchester, Cheshire, West Derbyshire and North Staffordshire.  Writing skills programmes are normally a mixture of face-to-face and phone/e-mail support.

What it Costs

The cost will vary depending on what you want to achieve. A typical three-month programme might include:

Initial assessment.

Individual learning programme, tailored to your needs.

8 two-hour sessions.

Set assignments.

Guidance and detailed feedback on real-life writing.

The cost for this would be £675.

Writing Points

"You don't have to be a genius to write clear, effective English.

You just have to understand what writing involves and know how to handle words and sentences and paragraphs. That you can learn....

...it is of immediate practical benefit in almost any job or career...if you know how to write, you will get along faster and further."

Thomas S. Kane, 'The Oxford Essential Guide to Writing.'

"If the good news from cyberspace is that we're writing more, the bad news is that most of us aren't very good at it. Our words don't do justice to our ideas."

Patricia T. O'Conner,'Words Fail Me.'
